[INTERNAL MEMO]
Keep, Stop, Start
Hey team,
Now that we’ve hit the ground running this quarter, I want to share what's top of mind for me: making sure we're set up to WIN.
A good quarter doesn't happen by accident. It happens because we're deliberate, not just about what we're doing, but what we're NOT doing, and how we're improving.
So here's what I'd challenge each of you to do this week…
Take a step back and ask yourself three simple questions.
1. What should I keep doing?
What's actually working?
Maybe it's your habit of planning your day the night before. Maybe it's double-checking your numbers so there are no surprises. Maybe it's showing up early to help set the tone for the team.
Whatever it is, identify it - then keep doing it.
Success is often just a matter of continuing the right things long enough. As we like to say: REPEAT SUCCESSFUL ACTIONS. The big wins come from repeatedly doing the boring work.
2. What should I stop doing?
What's not serving you anymore?
Are you spending too much time putting out fires instead of building systems? Saying "yes" to every request and stretching yourself thin? Avoiding hard conversations that would actually solve problems faster?
Be honest with yourself.
A lot of growth is simply stopping the stuff that drags us down. Most growth (personally and professionally) comes from stopping the habits that keep us small rather than focusing on new ones.
3. What should I start doing?
Where could you add something that would actually move the needle?
Maybe it's doing a weekly personal debrief to see where your time's really going. Blocking an hour for deep work (no Slack, distractions, etc). Or finally digging into learning that skill that's been on your list for months.
Small changes compound. A new habit today could pay off massively by year-end (and even just by the end of the quarter).
It's not about how long something takes. It's about how many reps you put in with the time you have.
Here's the point:
The point here is ownership. No one's going to do this for you.
It's on each of us to set ourselves up to be as successful as possible so we're not just busy, we're effective. And we're building something we're all proud of (even if that's just ourselves).
So take 15 minutes. Write it down. Hold yourself accountable… or better yet, share it with your manager or a teammate so they can help hold you accountable too.
Have a great week 🙏🏼
